A Blue Starfish (Linckia laevigata) resting on...

This post was originally published on October 14, 2010, and I thought it was important to re-post it because the message is timeless and oh, so relevant.

Do you believe in magic?

If you do not believe in magic, your life will not be magical. Magic is  like the power of the Great Barrier Reef – it is part of the unknowable – that which you cannot describe, but which exists and makes your life extraordinary when you experience it. Magical thinking is part of that mysterious and intriguing part of your spiritual life that lies dormant until a giant awakens it. One day you see or experience something extraordinary — like the Great Barrier Reef, or the Great Pyramid of Giza, or Machu Picchu as examples. It could even be something as simple as seeing a hummingbird or a flock of crows. The point is, you don’t have to be in some exotic location. You only need to be present in the moment and be aware of your surroundings and what the message is at the time it occurs.

Magic is what we are all looking for, but if you try to hold it and name it and describe it, you will lose it. Magic is intangible – it cannot be physically  touched, but can be felt by the heart and touches our soul on different levels, and times holding various emotions depending upon the magic you felt at that moment in time.

Magic is unknowable, yet knowable. Magic is incapable of being perceived, yet when we experience something profound, magic awakens in us. It is full of the color and offers all the strength that magic offers. Look at this beautiful blue starfish in the Great Barrier Reef. Can you describe the magic of its beauty in your eyes without diminishing it’s true magical effect on your eyes or soul?

Are you lost and searching for magic?

If your life has lost its luster and looks a little dull from a certain perspective, then perhaps you need to dust off the cobwebs of your mind and dig into your magic bag of tricks.  Find the magic of the creation that is called your life and conjure up some magic. You can do this by thinking magically.

Create your passion for your own existence, by creating your own magic. Get your magic mojo back by learning to take a step back from the quagmire of the crossed wires in your own life. Step out of the fray and onto the stars. Let magic envelop you when you are overwhelmed with the things that are the missing from your life. Replace fear and dullness instead with magic– by thinking and feeling that you are the magic — that you are the stars.

My magic formula:

  1. Still your mind
  2. Hold out your hand
  3. Think magical thoughts about what you want
  4. Let the magic dust from your mind settle onto the palm of your hand
  5. Open your eyes
  6. Look at the palm of your hand
  7. And voila – the magic of magic begins here!
  8. Why? Because you dared to believe in the first place

As a healer and explorer of alternative therapies and self-help techniques, I want you to  be able to heal yourself through the self-exploration of any metaphysical therapy that resonates with you. You simply need to find your modality – even if that modality is simply breath work because we are all equipped with an automatic process that is both conscious and unconscious.  There are so many ways to heal yourself physically, emotionally and spiritually. But it is up to you to find what works and what does not. When you find your true healing modality, the healing process will begin quickly in the wake of that thought process.
